A day in Baselland

My dear friend, Güliz, is moving back to Turkey so we decided that we would have a nice day together in the Swiss countryside to capture some special moments.  We drove to Grindel and planned to walk to Bärschwill.  

It took 20 minutes of false starts and discussions before we agreed on the correct path to follow.

Skiing in Austria

The reason I've not been up to date with my blog is that I was on vacation last week skiing in Austria. I went with my friends Isa and Dirk to Stubaital. We choose this resort as it is 'snow garanteed' becasue it is on a glacier.

All in all, I had a very relaxing week; the hotel was nice and it had an excellent kitchen so I ate really well the whole week. The salads were fantastic and usually after the salad, I was way too full but had to sit through another 2 courses. We stayed in Neustift which I would describe as nothing exceptional.

OK, the skiing. Unfortunately, the weather was bad for the entire duration of our stay there. On one day when most of the resort was closed due to high wind, we decided to go to Bodzen, in East Tirol for a little bit of shopping (fortunately, I did not buy anything). It was really a shame about the weather as it meant that I did not ski as much as I would have liked to. I can't even tell you about the panoramic view from 3000m. And poor Isa got a cold and had to stay in bed on our last ski-day. On the plus side, I did a lot of reading and felt very refreshed by the end of the week.

Sadly, I have no photos to show you. I was far too cold to even think about taking my camera out when I was skiing (although the Neustift itself was enjoying spring time temperatures).

Nevertheless, I am determined that this ski season must end with a great ski experience. So I am closely looking at the weather forecast and will go for the day to Hasliberg (if possible).

Klosters

I have just spent a nice weekend skiing in Klosters. I am a fare weather skier, so the promise of sunshine certainly lured me to the slopes. I was also able to take up a long standing invitation to stay with Emil, a friend I met in Klosters 3 years ago when I took a ski vacation there.

Being prone to the cold, I never dare take any photo's whilst I am skiing as the hassle of getting my camera out is bound to result in one or two fingers freezing. Anyway, here are a couple of shots I took, admittedly not on the slopes.

Liverpool

OK, I know it has been a while since I've written a post.  That is mainly because I have been extremely busy the past few weeks.  I had a trip back to London (to see family) and then onto Liverpool for a course. 

Whilst I was in Liverpool, my colleague Helena and I, managed to explore the city a bit and found some nice restaurants for dinner.  We found a really nice Indian restaurant in Albert Docks.  On our last evening, we managed some power shopping (15 mins before the shops shut at 6pm) and I found a beautiful dress in Coast.

Anyway, since returning, life has been hectic although I managed to do a bit of crafting some evenings this week. 

Como

For my birthday, which is the 14th of September, some friends and I planned a nice long weekend in Cernobbio which is 5 km from Como. 

Natasha, Anne-Chantal and I have been making annual 'pilgrmages' there.

This year, we had a new partner in crime (Le Vin)

We had lots of fun.  Can you believe that we spent 6 hours shopping in Cernobbio which only has a few shops.  However, the time was partly spent eating ice cream and lunch.  We all indulged in a bit of retail therapy although Le Vin was the most successful.  We were all admiring our new shoes

Sunday came much too quickly so we decided on a group photo (sadly without Natacha who had to return to France for a wedding on Saturday).
