It has been a long time since I've written a post. Even longer, since I crafted anything. I've been quite busy at work and then last weekend, I went to London. Whilst I was there, I stumbled across a wonderful shop in Soho called the Cloth House. It has the most amazing fabrics; the top floor is dedicated to linen and cotton. This shop is on Berwick Street which I learnt is famous for fabrics and accessories (I just wonder how this escaped my notice all those years ago when I lived in London). I was not able to buy any fabrics as I was rather short of time but I am hoping to indulge a bit when I visit again.
Today was the first time in weeks since I sat in front of my sewing machine. Low and behold, the dear thing was not working. I spent 1 hour fiddling with the plug and finally discovered that the fuse had blown so I replaced it (I was quite pleased with my little detective work as I am not very electrical). Then I finally got down to the business of sewing a dress, the pieces of which had been cut a good 4 weeks ago. I spent virtually all day sewing and almost finished the dress; I just need to fix the invisible zip and do up the hem.
Below is a preview. The top fabcric is from the Amy Butler range and the bottom brown/green fabric is a piece I bought in Nigeria a few years ago which I rediscovered in my wardrobe.
I am really pleased with this dress and hope to have it finished tomorrow evening, in time for an evening out in town later on this week.

Very pretty dress! I love the combination of fabrics. Coordinating fabrics that don't quite match is such a hot trend these days! I have a post planned about coordinating some outfits for the girls like that with the fabric I have on hand.

Fabulous little dress! I need to do more sewing for myself soon. I really appreciate you remembering my anniversary!!! It made my day :) And yes, we did get to have a nice romantic evening at our favorite restaurant. It was perfect.
